Who We are

Yatanthale Plantation (Pvt. Ltd.) is a tea and spice trading company based in the scenic Kandyan hills of central Sri Lanka. We are committed to supplying premium-quality products to both local and international markets.

At Yatanthale, we cultivate our own tea and spices while also sourcing high-quality produce from a select network of organic growers who uphold our rigorous standards of cultivation (nurturing and cropping) and sustainability. Each product reflects our dedication to quality, authenticity, and ethical sourcing.

Our mission is to deliver exceptional products at competitive prices, ensuring value for our customers while maintaining a stable and fair income for local growers and our team.

What We Do

At Yatanthale Plantation, we cultivate, collect, and process the finest quality tea and premium spices from the heart of Sri Lanka. Our primary focus is tea  carefully processed into several luxury varieties, including handmade green tea, handmade black tea, white tea, silver tips, and golden tips. We also produce distinctive specialty products such as tea pickle, crafted from tender, hand-selected tea leaves.

In addition to tea, we grow pepper, cinnamon, vanilla, and cloves, while sourcing cardamom, nutmeg, and mace from trusted local growers. Through long-term partnerships, we have developed a community-oriented business model where local farmers play an integral role in supplying high-quality produce.

Our growers are committed to sustainable agricultural practices, using environmentally friendly fertilization methods and precise harvesting techniques to preserve the purity and natural value of every crop.

All our spices are processed using state-of-the-art dehydration and packaging technology, ensuring superior aroma, taste, and longevity. As a result, Yatanthale products are ideal not only for culinary use but also for value-added industries such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and health beverages.

Our Products

Tea

At Yatanthale Plantation, tea is our signature product. We cultivate, handpick, and process premium-quality tea leaves from the central hills of Sri Lanka. Our range includes several luxury varieties such as handmade green tea, handmade black tea, white tea, silver tips, and golden tips each crafted with meticulous care to preserve its natural aroma and flavor.

Pickled tea leaves are one of our exclusive creations — a unique delicacy made from tender, freshly harvested tea leaf tips prepared using a traditional family recipe. Traditionally served during festive occasions and family gatherings, the leaves undergo a careful fermentation process using a proprietary blend of ingredients. The result is a bold, earthy flavor with nuanced sweet and sour notes. This artisanal product can be:

  • Enjoyed on its own as a tangy, flavorful pickle,
  • Used as a condiment to enhance rice, curries, or salads, or
  • Incorporated as a spice to elevate a variety of dishes. A true blend of heritage and innovation, our pickled tea leaves offer a memorable culinary experience.

Vanilla is among the world’s most cherished flavoring agents, derived from the vine-like orchid Vanilla planifolia. At Yatanthale, it is one of our main crops — carefully grown and hand-harvested for its high vanillin content. After harvesting, the pods are cured for several months to develop their rich aroma and flavor. Beyond culinary uses, vanilla is also an essential ingredient in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and medicinal products. Our pods are meticulously selected and cured by skilled workers, ensuring only premium-quality beans reach the market.

Known as the “King of Spices,” peppercorns (Piper nigrum) originate from a climbing vine native to South India and thrive in Sri Lanka’s central hills.Yatanthale produces black and white pepper using only fully ripened fruits, prized for their robust flavor and pungency. Additional supplies come from trusted growers who follow our strict quality and harvesting standards. Our peppercorns are sought after globally for their rich taste and aromatic intensity, making them a favorite among chefs and culinary experts.

Cinnamomum verum  also known as Ceylon cinnamon or true cinnamon is native to Sri Lanka and represents over 80% of the world’s supply. At Yatanthale, we source and process cinnamon from local plantations using traditional methods. The inner bark is delicately peeled, rolled into quills, and naturally dried in shaded, temperature controlled rooms. This handcrafted process, managed by experienced workers, ensures the finest cinnamon sticks — aromatic, pure, and rich in flavor.

Cloves (Syzygium aromaticum) are the dried flower buds of an evergreen tree from the Myrtaceae family. Harvested when they turn bright red, the buds are sun-dried to perfection. Renowned for their strong aroma and medicinal properties, cloves are used extensively in culinary, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical products. Though native to Indonesia, Sri Lanka’s hill country produces some of the world’s most fragrant and high-quality cloves, and at Yatanthale, every bud is hand-selected and processed to meet international standards.

Nutmeg and mace come from the fruit of Myristica fragrans, a tropical evergreen tree native to the Molucca Islands and now cultivated successfully in Sri Lanka. The dark brown seed is the nutmeg, while the red aril surrounding it is the mace. Both are valued for their warm, sweet aroma and delicate flavor, widely used in baking, cooking, and beverages. Additionally, nutmeg’s oil and butter extracts are used in cosmetics, perfumery, and pharmaceuticals. At Yatanthale, we harvest only fully ripened fruits, often collected directly by our own team or sourced from trusted traditional growers, ensuring unmatched quality and authenticity.
